Supervision is beneficial, in fact, it is essential. Supervision by the Inspectorate provides clarity on whether laws and policy regulations are complied with and have the intended result. It also gives insight into those areas where bottlenecks occur and improvements are required. Transparency for citizens, society, politics and administration. Supervision provides the minister with information on safety risks and the effects of policy. Information with which the minister can formulate and modify policy.
Supervision helps organisations improve the quality of their work. Not only through its compelling effect, but also through the valuable lessons that the organisations and authorities involved can learn from the produced inspection reports. The fact that the Inspectorate’s work is appreciated is reflected by the increasing number of requests by authorities and emergency services for studies into specific safety and security issues.
The inspection reports give insight into the performance of the organisations involved. Supervision by the Inspectorate thus effectively contributes to societal safety.
The mission of the Inspectorate is:
Supervision for a safer society.
